I think Riley thought he'd found a Sam when he met Buffy. But dating Slayer is a lot more... also he was beginning to be ready to settle down. He was thinking of the future - Buffy always had a policy of living for today.

Maybe she'll meet another Riley now she's free to do as she pleases...
